Participants of the Hartford Area Flag Football League (HAFF) will have fun while being physically active and will gain knowledge of the sport. Young athletes will learn every position on the field as well as football fundamentals. Experienced athletes will enhance their gameplay skills in a non-contact environment.
PRACTICES AND GAMES
Practices will be conducted in various locations in Hartford, SD. Practices will be held 1-2 nights during pre-season. Games will be played on Thursdays and Saturdays. Schedule to be set upon completion of registration and will vary pending on total number of teams. All games will be held at the Swenson Sports Complex. Bring a tent and some chairs, and enjoy the Hartford Flag Football gameday experience!
EQUIPMENT
Each participant of Hartford Area Flag Football League will receive an official NFL Flag Football reversible jersey, Flag Football belt and a mouthpiece. Participants are required to wear a mouth guard (without a strap) and soccer or football cleats.
Metal cleats are not permitted.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Participants of Hartford Area Flag Football MUST be between the ages of 5-12 by July 15th, 2024. Players outside of the city of Hartford are welcomed to join the Hartford Area Flag Football League and will be assigned to teams practicing near their home if possible. The Hartford Area Flag Football League is a Co-ed league.
GAMEPLAY
Teams will play a minimum of 6 games during the season with the opportunity to play more if we have more teams sign up. The season will end with a Blizzard Bowl Family celebration day at the end of the season. Date October 7, 2023.
Game play will consist of 5v5 for two 24 minute halves with a three minute halftime. Teams are formed based on grade of student in the upcoming fall semester. This ensures all players learn offense and defense equally, promoting player development. Coaches will rotate bench players to provide equal playing time for all. If a team has limited players, the Hartford Area Flag Football League President my elect to play 4v4 for that specific game. As the season progresses, it's encouraged that coaches empower their players to lead their Squads with decreased direction, especially in the older divisions.

Please note participant siblings when you register. Non-sibling team requests can be submitted but are not guaranteed.
WHAT TO DO AFTER YOU REGISTER
After you register, you will receive a confirmation email that your registration has been submitted. A welcome email will be sent to all emails we have on file after registration closes on June 30th. After team evaluations, coaches will be notified of their rosters. All rosters, practice times and locations, and game schedules will be posted on the Hartford Area Flag Football website. Occasional updates will also be posted to the Hartford Area Flag Football Facebook page.
